Introduction
Our identity says a lot about how we move through this world. How a person identifies, and more specifically, their expression of that identity, has the potential to affect their bodily, financial, occupational, social, religious, and political health, among other things. The goal of the Fully Free Identity Expression Project is to take a multimedia approach to further understanding the intersection of identity expression and personal safety.
Objective
The objective of this project is to build a collection of photographs and narratives that document personal identity, specifically how one’s identity correlates to their personal safety. To achieve this objective testimonies from underrepresented groups in the Austin community were collected, along with photographs of participants. These testimonies were transferred to an online database, and organized for publication of a book.
